Even the most complex project requires no more that 3 fonts.
Almost al situations can be handled with three good compatible choices.
You’ll need a serif family for body copy, a basic serif family for contrast.
And a slab serif or other typeface for variety or special uses.
Magazines are the most difficult typographic projects.
They have hundreds of pages so they need the variety that the rule of three can provide.
The key to the rule of three is to have a system om how each font will be used.
Sign a role for each typeface to play.
This helps the reader recognize and distinguish the hierarchy of the information you’re presenting.
It’s great if you really need the variety.
But remember that always best to keep your type choices as paired down as possible.
